Kandy Perahera 2011

What do you get when you combine 109 brightly lit elephants, torch bearers, whip crackers, stilt walkers, sword wielders, horn blowers, maypole dancers, fire twirlers, drum beaters, portly princes and a sacred tooth?

The 2011 Kandy Perahera, which brought a record number of visitors to the hill country of Sri Lanka. The procession began at an auspicious time on the evening of August 13 and continued for approximately four hours.
